örgin

Meaning:
throne

Thrones of early Turkic rulers could be elaborate and even mobile. The Byzantine historian Menander describes a sixth-century Western Turkic ruler seated on a golden throne with two wheels, which could be drawn by a single horse. He also mentions a golden couch supported by four golden peacocks. Gold belt ornaments discovered at Eleke Sazy (eastern Kazakhstan) depict a khagan seated on a throne adorned with two horse figures. Large, raised or octagonal platforms have also been interpreted as Turkic royal thrones, although these identifications remain uncertain. No complete early Turkic throne has been securely identified.
