Avar bone plates

Two carved bone plates from a bow grip, discovered in Grave 434 at Kiskundorozsma (Hungary). They bear incised runiform signs associated with the Late Avar period, but the text remains undeciphered. Typically dated to the late 8th century (sometimes discussed into the early 9th).
