yıd

Meaning:
smell, odor

Modern words for ā€œsmellā€ do not invariably continue the same historical stem. The descendants of yıd have sometimes been compared or conflated with those of the distinct Turkic *Ä«s / *ıys ā€œodor, fumesā€; consequently, forms ending in -s require individual etymological assessment.
