ögir-
‘to be joyful, to rejoice’. The initial Ö- is fixed by TT VIII and modern spellings of ögrünç. Survives only(?) in NE Tuv. ö:rü-. Occasionally used by itself, but usually in the Hend. ögir- sevin- ‘to rejoice and be glad’. Türkü viii (when I ascended the throne, the Türkü people who thought they were on the point of death) [ö]girip sevinip ‘rejoiced and were glad’ (and their downcast eyes looked upwards) II E 2 (previously read eğirip which makes no sense; the Ö- has disappeared in a small break in the stone): viii ff. ögir- occurs twice by itself, and seven times in the Hend. ögir- sevin- in IrkB: Man. (gap) ögirmek kim ögirdi sevindi ‘the joy with which they rejoiced and were glad’ TT II 8, 60: Uyğ. viii ff. Man.-A ögirmek sevinmek bolzun M I 28, 13: Man.
