üz-

Meaning:
to tear, sever, pull apart; to break or cut off

üz- is a transitive verb with the basic concrete sense “to tear, sever, pull apart; break or cut off”. In the Tunyukuk inscription it is used of something thin being easy to tear and something thick being difficult to tear. In the Old Turkic textual tradition, especially in Old Uyghur texts, the verb has a wider range including cutting or dividing, breaking, tearing apart, crushing, destroying or removing, extinguishing and abandoning; in administrative and legal usage it can also occur in connection with deciding or bringing matters to an end.
