näçük

Meaning:
how?

An unusual derivative of nä, formed with the very rare suffix -çük, whose function is obscure. It primarily means ‘how?’, but occasionally ‘why?’, and may also be used as a relative or indefinite adverb. It is probably a very old word.

Kāšgarī states that näçük ‘why?’ was characteristic of the Yabāqu dialect, whereas the other Turks used nälük.

Alternative spellings:
نَجُكْ
