sı:-

Meaning:
to break

sı- was the old simple transitive verb ā€œbreakā€. Besides physically breaking objects, it is used for routing armies, capturing towns, rejecting a statement, refuting an argument and metaphorically breaking someone’s heart. It was largely displaced by sındır-; Early Middle Turkic sources already show sındur- widely used as the transitive counterpart of sın-.
