D uzat- (uza:t-)
Caus. f. of uza:-; lit. ‘to make longer’, hence ‘to drag out, to remove to a distance’, and other extended meanings. S.i.a.m.l.g. See Doerfer II 594. Uyğ. viii ff. Bud. PP 28, 5; 31, 2 (üntür-): Xak. xi ol yışığ uzattı: ‘he stretched’ (madda) ‘the rope’ (etc.); and one says ol ı:şığ uzattı: ṭawwala’l-amr wa sawwafahu wa maṭala ‘he dragged out the affair and postponed and put it off’ Kaş. I 209 (uza:tur (sic), uzatma:k); bu er ol ı:şığ uzatğa:n ‘this man always drags out’ (yuṭawwil) ‘an affair’ I 155; a.o.
